Each year for Queen season and Summer Solstice I write a poem from a bird’s eye view.
You’re invited to write one, too.
breathless from the climb, heart thumping, I look.
more accurately, I see.
from way up here, I can see how things are; the truth.
I see a once-abandoned workshop now teeming with life, polished and gleaming in the summer sun.
I see river flowing fat and smooth, no rapids in sight.
there are acres and acres of usually busy farmlands resting under a blanket of cover crop, blessedly fallow but no less verdant.
plow horses nicker in the grass, refueling and resting, considering a frolic.
all around the realm, a greenbelt, a protective hedge alive with wild.
and off in the distance, but not too far, a building site.
under construction, a dream coming true, fueled and paid for with this year’s cash crop of peace.
love and lookin’ out
