Your destiny depends on it.
Well, lemme back up.
You may not have a destiny.
You might be that rare soul with no purpose, a doormat of a reincarnation, so it doesn’t matter what you do. It’s OK to keep on letting yourself get kicked around. You can relax.
…
You didn’t think I was serious, did you?
You? A doormat?
You, kicked around?
Absolutely not.
I will not stand for it. And neither should you.
You have a purpose, a destiny.
And this season it deserves your full attention.
That’s why you need to know your Warrior Why.
Without it you may be putting up with all manner of distracting, depleting, and derailing bullshit.
Don’t actively participant in keeping the world from the transformation your existence promises.
Your Warrior Why will help keep you on track.
To determine it, ask yourself:
- what would be at stake if I weren’t around?
- what breaks my heart, and I want to help fix it?
- what injustices make me angry?
- what would go unnoticed or extinct if I didn’t defend it’s importance?
Sit with your answer for a moment. Let the satisfaction of that clarity settle into your being.
Now, is the thing you named really all that important?
Is it important enough to give it your all?
OK, then it’s time to get real.
If you’re serious about this thing, then you know your Warrior Why.
I means that you will do everything you can to make this happen.
It’s what Vidal Sassoon talked about– a purpose of such intensity that you must actively survive it in order to bask in the glory of its becoming.
If you get distracted and end up on the couch eating powdered donuts, or letting someone suck your energy, or sabotaging your finances, your focus, or your potential…
then back to the drawing board.
Either you forgot your Warrior Why, or it wasn’t a strong enough why to begin with.
And I should know.
I forgot my Warrior Why recently.
I got off track. I let things slip. I got lazy.
I forgot what I was surviving for, why I needed to be strong and focused.
And when I finally snapped to, I had to scramble.
It was almost too late.
I almost lost the ground I’d gained, I watched as a hard-won weaving of rituals, practices, and discipline began to unravel.
But I caught it, and now my Warrior Why is more precious than ever.
Because I see how easy it is to lose it.
I see how important it is, and I will fight for it.
As L-MM says in Hamilton, if you stand for nothing, then what will you fall for?
Without a Warrior Why, you’re not standing for anything.
So, you’re likely to fall for everything; a puppet, a pawn.
So buck up. Get psyched. Pound your chest and stand up for your Warrior Why.
Do the hard thing.
Get out of your comfort zone.
Live with such purpose that it requires you to survive it, so you can bask in it’s glory.
It’s why you’re here.
Unless, you’re a doormat after all?
Nah.
love & Warrior season,
