We’re walking toward the Dark now like a bride down the aisle.
The moon is darkening, too.
It’s special this year, having a Dark moon at the Winter Solstice.
It doesn’t always line up like that.
So, this is the year to embrace Dark, to really be with it instead of wishing it away.
One way to embrace the Dark is by welcoming in The Mystery, the divine, the great unknown, with ritual.
As we settle into the sacred space of ritual, we “invoke”.
Invocation is when we honor our surroundings by facing the directions, but also facing inward and kindling the wisdom in our psyche and soul; weaving a tapestry of connection and protection inside and out.
Use this simple invocation when “busy” has become your personality or “striving” is only speed you go.
But especially, use it at Winter Solstice and the Dreaming moon.
Face the East and say:
I face the east and honor The Mystery of new day, as yet to unfold. I honor The Mystery of every beginning. I face east and remember how to rest my mental intelligence. I set down the need to know-it-all.
Face the South and say:
I face the south and honor The Mystery of transformation, action as yet to unfold. I honor The Mystery of the butterfly effect. I face south and remember how to rest my metabolic intelligence. I set down the need to make meaning.
Face the West and say:
I face the west and honor The Mystery of feeling, as yet to unfold as depth. I honor The Mystery of emotion. I face west and remember how to rest my emotional intelligence. I set down the need to feel-it-all.
Face the North and say:
I face the north and honor The Mystery of stillness, as yet to unfold as structure. I honor The Mystery of support. I face north and remember how to rest my physical intelligence. I set down the need for guarantees.
Face your Center and say:
I face my own Center and honor The Mystery of Self, always unfolding. I honor The Mystery of the soul. I face my Center and remember how to rest on the pilgrimage of my soul’s journey. I set down the need to transcend.
love and dark!
