Today the Earth floats level and we marvel at the phenomenon of balance.
Tomorrow is the first day of the light half, when days are longer than nights for the first time in half a year.
It’s time to celebrate!
And notice.
I have a Spring Equinox poem for you.
Sprouting
Let the new life arrive.
Let it push bravely up
through the ancient layers
of everything that came before.
Watch the rounded curve,
a sleek, green elbow,
as the shoot surfaces.
Not piercing the surface like an arrow,
or a diver in reverse,
sudden and insistent.
But instead, an unfurling.
Let this life take its time,
first one leaf, then two.
Don’t compare it to
the mature canopy,
efficient and gulping starlight.
Greet it with reverence and let it be new.
Watch it and marvel,
the engine of sprouting will
do the rest.
