I have a crush on Liz Gilbert.
Eat, Pray, Love was great. But Big Magic, yeah baby. And The Signature of All Things, somebody scrape me off the floor.
(City of Girls…eh. But whatever!)
So, when I heard Krista Tippett feature her on On Being last year, I should have known that she’d speak right to my little mystical heart.
And to yours.
But hang on, DO you have a mystical heart? Do you swing a pendulum, interpret your dreams, and read tarot before every major decision?
Some of ya’ll are like “um, duh. Of course!”
But what if you don’t? What if you have zero interest in woo-woo witchy stuff? Does that leave you out?
Are you ineligible as a mystic?
Well, my crush can answer that. Take it away, Liz
“I believe that just because something’s mystical doesn’t mean it also shouldn’t be demystified. And maybe it’s the mystical things that we need to demystify most in order to lay claim to them and not keep thinking of them as something that only belongs to a very special class of people…it should be that all are invited, or else, what are we even doing here?”
See? Crush-ville.
I heard this interview last summer when I was trying to describe Awaken the Mystic. I wanted to communicate that it’s not a “class” about learning to read tarot or ‘3 days to become a witch’.
As Liz says, it’s about demystifying YOU. You are the mystical thing, not the dang tarot cards.
So, if you have a Self, then you have a mystical nature.
Awaken the Mystic is a 3-day experience where you take time to receive divination, interpret your unique divine ‘knowing’, and become efficient at doing the Work you were born to do.
Because here’s a fact: a car will run out of gas while its idling.
Meaning, a car that never moved an inch from where it started will run out of fuel, and not be able to go anywhere.
Take a look at your personal gas gauge. Are you efficient? Have you reached goals? Are you in motion, doing the Work you were born to do?
Or not?
Maybe you’re idling because you don’t know where you’re going?
If you could finally be sure of your direction, would you hit the accelerator and drive toward your purpose?
C’mon, you know that feeling.
Gas in the tank, a cooler full of snacks, a full playlist and podcasts in the queue, on your way toward…something.
Instead of sitting there. Idling. Unsure. Unclear. Running out of fuel by the minute.
Is it time to demystify your purpose and accelerate?
love & golden hour,
k
