Magical day camp
for grown-ups!
Tend your wild, mystical nature
Nurture your sacred self
Reclaim the fun of summer camp!
Two sessions to choose from
July 5-10
August 9 – 14

Hi! I’m Katie!
I began learning about ritual and women’s mysteries when I was 6 years old.
In other words, I was a Girl Scout. I started as a Brownie in the first grade and went all the way through high school, graduating with my Gold Award. I hardly remember life before sitting around campfires singing and circling with girls.
It’s deep in my bones.
Do you wish there was something like “magical girl scouts for grown ups”?
Welcome to my world! You have come to the right place.

Send. Yourself. To camp.

If you were a kid who loved horseback riding, you would have gone to horseback riding camp over the summer. Right?
If you liked art or theater, you’d be at art or theater camp.
Canoeing, tennis, skateboarding, or dance? Yep, camp.
Maybe you got to do this as a kid (ah, those were the days!)
Or maybe not (I missed out!)
Either way, I have the best news.
Ready?
As a grown-ass person, it’s not too late to send yourself to camp!
It’s not too late to recognize and honor your interests, skills, and aptitudes and spend a whole week reveling in them.
In fact, there are amazing places like the John C. Campbell Folk School and Penland School of Craft that have been offering art-centric summer camp to adults for decades.
So, adult summer camp is a thing.
I’d like to invite you to Sacred Summer Camp!
Spend a week with me this summer immersed in all the mystical ways I’m known for: archetypes, divination, writing, scent blending, communing with nature, and ritual.

Day Camp Schedule

Yoga and meditation from 9:15 – 10 am Mon – Thurs.
Special guest teachers will join us each afternoon from 2 – 4 pm Mon – Thurs (I’ll be revealing who they are soon! Suffice to say they are the coolest mystical babes in the area, my personal friends and respected teachers).
Sunday evening 6 to 9 pm| ‘Round the Fire
Gather at my apothecary fire circle for hearty snacks, opening ceremony, and sisterhood. We’ll set our intentions for the week as the sparks fly into the starry sky. A special guest practitioner will join me in offering a healing session with anointing, Reiki, and tuning forks.
Monday 9 am to 4 pm| Find Yourself
Immerse in the mysteries of archetypes and divination. A special guest will join us to offer astrology readings and divination.
Tuesday 9 am to 4 pm | See Yourself
Spend the day exploring a pristine forest about a mile from my apothecary and learn to see yourself reflected in nature. A special guest will join us for a plant walk and help us forage for a wild tea.
Wednesday 9 am to 4 pm | Become Yourself
Tuck into the shade of the outdoor classroom for a day of writing, collage, and sacred imagination. A special guest will lead us in poetry medicine and smoke bundle making.
Thursday 9 am to 4 pm | Tend Yourself
Roll up your sleeves and blend beautiful essential oil remedies for body and soul. We’ll turn the outdoor classroom into our laboratory and blend beneath the shady trees. A special guest will show us how to add stones and crystals to our potions for deep medicine.
Friday 1 pm to 7 pm| Honor yourself
It’s time to honor the Self you have discovered this week! Spend a slow morning to yourself, then start the afternoon learning all about ritual craft. You’ll practice techniques like casting a circle, grounding, and calling the directions. You’ll design and prepare a potent ceremony that honors your experience, your transformation, yourself, and your sisters. We’ll spend the evening celebrating with ritual, and fireside hors d’oeuvres.

FAQ’s
What Sacred Summer Camp participants want to know

How is this different from Awaken the Mystic?
Sacred Summer Camp is more about play and exploration. The format is loose, fun, and all about restoration, whereas Awaken the Mystic is more instructional. You will not receive the classes, teachings, or worksheets that Awaken the Mystic provides.

What if I’ve already done Awaken the Mystic or The Mystical Year?
Welcome back! Summer Camp is designed to support, inspire, and restore you in the traditions you’ve become familiar with here at river island apothecary. You’ll have fun exploring new things, relaxing in the familiar setting of the outdoor classroom, and enjoy a deeper immersion since this is a 6-day experience. The cherry on top is the daily special guests offering their expertise, healing vibes, and guidance.

Is Sacred Summer Camp a prerequisite for The Mystical Year?
Yes! All participants are eligible and invited to attend The Mystical Year! 2021 cohorts will begin enrolling in November.

What do I get to take home?
You’ll get a binder with worksheets and handouts, the Archetype Mapping kit, all potions made in class, divination cards drawn each day, spells and formulas created for you by your fellow students, and other goodies!

What else do you provide in the class?
You’ll be greeted each day with a warm pot of my famous “seed tea” and fresh well water. I’ll also provide supportive snacks. Your classroom will be set up with floor cushions, and chairs will be available to women who prefer that. The apothecary or outdoor classroom will be filled with beautiful aroma from the fire and/or incense, soothing music and maybe the distant tolling of wind chimes. Blankets and throws will be available for cozy comfort. Heat & A/C are available in cases of uncomfortable weather. I also have some surprises up my sleeve.

Where do I stay?
You’re responsible for your own off-site lodging. Asheville boasts some of the most elegant, charming lodging in the country, from quaint Airbnb’s to upscale hotels. There is no on-site lodging available.
Introverts will appreciate staying alone to rest and restore having evenings to themselves. The extroverts might choose to lodge together and spend each evening trying out the wonderful restaurants in Asheville and Black Mountain.

What about food?
I’ll provide hearty gluten free, sugar free snacks for our opening and closing ceremonies. You’ll bring your lunch/snacks each day. Lunchtime is usually when women hang out and chat, take quiet solo walks, or rest. You’ll get lots more info on logistics upon your enrollment. I will provide simple, restorative snacks like apples, nuts, and raw veggies every day.

What about the weather?
Having lived here all my life, I can absolutely guarantee that we’ll have to play the weather by ear. I will keep a close eye on the forecasts, and adjust our activities accordingly. If it pours rains every single day, which it might, I will arrange for wonderful indoor activities. I’ve held really beautiful rituals in the covered outdoor classroom in the rain, and it’s quite enchanting! That said, it could also be a drought. Who knows.

Is this a teacher training?
No. This experience is designed for your personal growth and evolution. The methods, materials, and information presented are not available for re-purposing for your own professional offerings.

What types of women usually attend?
Openhearted, soulful women with an interest in embodiment, the senses, and personal growth attend my offerings. Participants usually range in age from mid 20’s to 60’s. Women who attend have a connection and curiosity with nature, lineage, ritual, and women’s mysteries. Some participants are brand-new to this type of learning, and some are quite experienced.

Will we get to smell the Archetype Anointing Oils?
Yes! You’ll do a powerful Archetype Mapping divination during your first day that includes smelling at 7 of the oils. You’ll also get a special 20% savings on all oils purchased while you’re at the apothecary for class.

I have more questions. Who can I ask?
Great! Just email Jess the administration goddess at riverislandapothecary@gmail.com with “Summer Camp Question” as the subject.
